Adanca mare sub a lunei fata, Inseninata de-a ei blonda raza, O lume-ntreaga-n fundul ei viseaza Si stele poarta pe oglinda-i creata. Dar mani – ea falnica, cumplit turbeaza Si misca lumea ei negru-mareata, Pe-ale ei mii si mii de nalte brate Ducand peire – tari inmormanteaza.
Azi un diluviu, mane-o murmuire, O armonie care capat n-are – Astfel e-a ei intunecata fire, Astfel e sufletu-n antica mare. Ce-i pasa ce simtiri o sa ni-nspire: Indiferenta, solitara – mare!
*** The Deep Deep Sea… The deep deep sea beneath the moon’s face silver, Illumined by her shimmery thread, A world entire dreams upon her bed And stars she carries on her rumpled mirror.
Yet tomorrow – rabidly she upturns her foundations And moves her world majestic-black, With thousand-high-arm thwack Wreaking disaster – she entombs but nations. Deluge today, tomorrow humming creature, A harmony that is without end – Thus is her tenebrous nature, Thus is the soul inside the ancient sea.
What does she care, the feelings she’ll inspire: Indifferent, solitary – sea!
